SISMYCITY

12th Venice Biennale of Architecture

SISMYCITY is looking at the aftermath of the earthquake, which struck the Italian city of L’Aquila and its surrounding area on April 6, 2009. Developed over a year, SISMYCITY narrates the profound connection between building and dwelling, the system of relations between individual and collective identities on which the shared sense of common good is based. In the context of the post-earthquake city of L’Aquila with all its media overexposure, fuori_vista wished to implement a project of composite communications, which was innovative in its research methodology.

The project included an exhibition and a conference held in the historic heart of Venice, Palazzo Ducale, as part of the 12th International Architecture Exhibition – la Biennale di Venezia.

The outcome has been collected in a communication project made out of a photographic survey over a year, a touring exhibition, a series of conferences and a publication.
